Pygmalion and Galatea

The inspiration for this piece came from Greek Mythology, where a sculptor, who falls in love with his work, prays to the goddess Aphrodite (or Venus) to bring his sculpture to life. The Myth was also rewritten by Ovid in his book Metamorphosis.
