King of the Hares

Watercolour painting from an antique manuscript of the Arabic animal fables Kalila wa Dimna. This image shows the King of the Hares in counsel with his subjects. The stories are around 2000 years old - this particular version is though to be from Egypt or Syria (c.1700s).
